Bau Nyale is a party or ceremony known as Bau Nyale. The word Bau comes from the Sasak language which means to catch, while the word Nyale means sea worms that live in coral holes below the sea surface.
Putri Mandalika, a beautiful princess who transforms into a nyale worm and appears once a year on Lombok Beach. Who would have thought that the nyale worm, which is fought over and sought after every year by the people of Lombok, was the incarnation of a very beautiful princess who in ancient times was fought over by princes from various kingdoms in Lombok.[5]

Princess Mandalika is the daughter of King Tonjang Beru and Dewi Seranting. This king was famous for his wisdom so that his people loved him very much because they lived in prosperity. Princess Mandalika lived in a royal atmosphere and was respected until she reached adulthood.

When she grew up, Princess Mandalika grew into a very beautiful and charming girl. Her beauty spread throughout Lombok so that princes from various kingdoms such as the Kingdom of Johor, the Kingdom of Lipur, the Kingdom of Pane, the Kingdom of Kuripan, the Kingdom of Daha and the Kingdom of Beru intended to marry her.

Knowing this apparently made the Princess become a horseman, because if she chose one of them there would be division and fighting in Gumi Sasak. There were even several kingdoms that installed senggeger so that the princess would fall in love with him. However, this only made the Princess even more angry.

After much thought, the Princess finally decided to invite all the princes and their people to meet at Kuta Beach, Lombok on the 20th of the 10th month according to the Sasak month calculation, just before dawn. The invitation was welcomed by all the princes and their subjects so that on that date they flocked to the location of the invitation.
After a while, Princess Mandalika finally appeared, carried by the soldiers guarding her. Then he stopped and stood on a rock at the edge of the beach. After saying her intention to receive all the princes and people, the Princess finally jumped into the sea. All the people who were looking for him did not wander around. After a while finally a collection of colorful worms arrived which according to the community was believed to be the incarnation of Princess Mandalika.[
